The youth will be going shopping for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes on November 5. They will be combining this outing with a day of service & also taking in a movie.

Operation Christmas Child Drop-Off Center:

Volunteers are needed during National Collection Week (Nov. 13-20) at the Rock to receive shoeboxes from other churches. See the newsletter for times each day & contact Rebecca Osborne (276-393-0969) to sign up.


WBC has coordinated an all-day bus trip to Williamsburg, KY to see the Noah's Ark Museum on Saturday, Nov. 11. Tickets will be purchased on site. Please contact John Ponish (276-870-1593) if interested in participating.


Please bring your packed shoeboxes to the sanctuary by November 19. WE will dedicate our boxes during the 11am worship service that day.


Our 21st annual Christmas Cantata, "The First Noel - Born Is the King!", will be presented on Sunday evening, December 10 at 7pm. It is not too late to sing in the cantata this year! Rehearsals are each Wednesday from 7:50 - 8:30pm.

Missions Opportunity at the Laurels:

Contact Sherlene Hall if you would like to a group of folks from WBC who will be going to the Laurels on November 9 from 1:30-2:30. They will minister to the residents through music and a brief devotional.


Saturday, December 2 from 4-6pm at the church. Invite your friends & neighbors to join you in visiting the town of Bethlehem! You can visit the village shops & speak with shepherds, angels and stop at the stable to hear Mary & Joseph's story! All ages are invited!

Sunday School Breakfast:

Sunday, November 12, 8:30am. Everyone is invited!


Saturday, November 11 from 10am - 12pm. Tricia Cahoon will be leading this event for all children (babies - Grade 6)! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact Susan Mullins by October 29 if your child would like to participate.


Join us after worship on Sunday, October 29 for lunch in the fellowship hall! The Missions Committee will be serving chicken casserole, scalloped potatoes, mixed veggies, salad, rolls & desserts. All donations will be used for the Grab-n-Go Ministry at WBC.


The youth will be traveling to Bristol Caverns & also a corn maze on Saturday, October 28. Contact Bryon Burton or Stephanie Carter if you would like to participate.

Wedding Shower:

You are invited to attend a household wedding shower for Megan Funk & Mark Collins on Sunday, October 22, anytime between 4pm & 6pm in the fellowship hall. Megan & Mark are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Operation Christmas Child Processing Center:

WBC is currently making plans to travel to Boone, NC on Friday, Dec. 8 to volunteer at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center. If you are interested in participating, please contact Rebecca Osborne at 276-365-0909 or

Fall Bible Studies:

Join us on Wednesday evenings, at 6:45pm for small group Bible studies: Joshua & Judges, Shaken & The Screwtape Letters. These new Bible studies will be taught through November 15.

GriefShare Support Group:

A local GriefShare group is meeting at Bethesda Church of God in Big Stone Gap for 13 weeks. It began on September 7. Meetings are from 6:00 - 8:30pm on Thursdays. BCM Meal:

On the first Monday of each month, Wise Baptist provides & serves a meal at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry building at UVA-Wise for our college students. Our next meal will be on November 6.

Wednesday Night Small Group Bible Studies!:

Wednesday evening activities are in full swing: 6pm - Fellowship Dinner, 6:45pm - Small Group Bible Studies & Children in Action missions group, 7:50pm - Choir Rehearsal.


Our Wednesday night missions program for children (K - Grade 6) is in full swing! Each Wednesday, from 6:45-7:45, children will be learning about missions, praying for missions & being involved in hands-on missions activities. Nursery will be provided for birth - age 4.


Our Children's Choir is in recess at this time.

Sunday School:

We encourage you to get involved in Sunday School at 10am on Sunday mornings. There are classes for all ages. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your faith and to connect with others in a more personal way.

Meals on Wheels:

Our Meals on Wheels Ministry will begin again in August. If you have a family member, neighbor, or know of someone in our congregation who we may serve, please contact Susan Davidson or the church office.

Church Library:

Be sure to visit our Church Library. There are many ready available resources at your disposal. We have Christian fiction, novels, devotionals, Bible translations and much more.

Let's Help-Grab N Go Ministry:

Food items are needed for the Department of Social Services Adult Protective Services. The food items help bridge the gap at the end of the month. Food items needed are: Crackers, peanut butter, vienna sausage, beanie weenies, pork n beans, canned vegetables/fruit, pudding cups, jello, granola bars, pop tarts, powdered milk, instant potatoes, oatmeal/cereal, soups/chili/beef stew, canned meats, coffee/juice/soda, mac n cheese(with liquid cheese), canned pasta, ramen noodles, spaghetti noodles/sauce, oil, pancake mix/syrup, rice, ensure, dried fruits, chips, any other non-perishable items. Other items such as: lotions, soap, body wash, shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, toothbrush/paste, denture cleaner/paste, brush/comb, socks, wash clothes, towels, dish towels, pot holders, gloves, scarves, knit hats, puzzle books, ink pens, note pads, toilet paper, dish liquid, laundry detergent, trash bags, throws/fleece blankets. Our church has made this ministry, Grab N Go, our year round mission. These items can be placed in the white baskets in the hall year round.
